Shown below is a Yad, made in Israel, which is available through the FJMC as a gift for teenagers who qualify for the award.

The Yad Shel Chai project is easy to implement. Work with your Rabbi and Hebrew school administrator to encourage its teenagers to read Torah. Track the portions read on a form provided by FJMC. When a student approaches 18 readings, order a Yad and certificate through the FJMC. The cost is $40 plus shipping and handling. The instructions below tell you how to run the program.

Appoint a chairman
- Meet with your Rabbi, Youth Director and/or Religious School administrator
- Publish program guidelines and develop publicity
- Publicize the program with presentations made to students, fliers, pulpit and bulletin announcements
- Work with individuals to encourage them to read aliyot and schedule them as far in advance as possible
- Record readings on the attached Torah Readings Record form
- When an individual's 18th reading is in sight, order the Yad and Certificate.

- You can register for one to four students at a time.
- Select Yad Shel Chai
- Select Individual or Group
- When completing the forms, enter the "First Name" and "Last Name" of the person to whom the Yad is to be sent
- Organization is the name of your Men’s Club or synagogue
